James 1:17

"Every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father
who created all the lights in the heavens"
James 1:17a (CEV)

The 3 beautiful kids in this photo truly are a good and perfect gift for our family!!

This is my entry for this month's "Show us your stuff" challenge, which required a Christmas photo scrapped in non-traditional colours.

I decided to scrap this photo from 2011, taken just as the 3 kids had finished decorating Grandma's tree, and I used mint and peach as my non-traditional colours.

My handmade embellishments for this layout are the accordion folded snowflakes which I made using one of the new Tim Holtz dies.  I also created the swirly glittery background on the white cardstock using a glue pen and fairy dust glitter.

"Show us your Stuff" and Scripture Sunday

The Show us Your Stuff blog is changing things up a bit, and this month is the last of the midmonth- 15th- challenges!   The challenge was to be inspired by this image,

I took my inspiration from the tree theme, using photos of the family at Kangaroo Island back in 2009, and used a passage of Scripture related to trees!

"The Lord watches over you.
The Lord is like a shade tree at your right hand."

Psalm 121:5  New International Reader's Version (NIRV)

My handmade embellishment for this month combines the talents of two talented ladies-  a handmade daisy made by Sandie, and a beautiful hat pin made by Carole from Tattered Inspirations

Guest DT at Show us your stuff

I am really honoured to have been invited to a Guest Design Team member this month at Show us Your Stuff.

I undertook the June Group 1 challenge, inspired by this very cute little blue bird!  As soon as I saw the inspiration prompt I knew I wanted to use the photos from our "Breakfast with the Birds" at Healseville sanctuary.

The Bo Bunny "Alora" papers were perfect for this challenge-  with their little blue birdies scattered throughout the range!

My handmade embellishments are my accordion folded flowers!

I would like to say a huge thanks to Marelle and the team at SUYS for giving me the opportunity to guest DT!

Red Army

Today's Scrapbooking Scripture verse comes to you from Romans 8, and whilst the verse may not have helped our Melbourne Renegades make it to the Twenty20 finals this year, I know it holds true for our lives!

"If God is for us, no one can defeat us"
Romans 8:31a

I have used the inspiration picture from the "Show us your stuff" April 15 challenge for this layout.  I took my inspiration from the red and white dots, and the green ribbon!  My handmade items on this layout are the purple pumpkin spotted buttons, and the "Renegades" bunting I made!

Scrapbooking Scripture Sunday & Show us your stuff challenge

Last week I boldly announced that every Sunday I would upload a layout that has a verse of scripture on it, and for the rest of the week I've been trying to work out what verse to use.  Problem is- I am completely spoiled for choice!  Meanwhile Tom has been hard at work  practising his trumpet pieces for the Sunbury Youth and Young Adults service tonight, and as they are playing one of our favourite songs "Everlasting God", I have had that going on constant repeat in my head!  (If you are not familiar with the lyrics for Everlasting God, here they are)

Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord

We will wait upon the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord

Our God, You reign forever
Our hope, our Strong Deliverer
You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won't grow weary
You're the defender of the weak
You comfort those in need
You lift us up on the wings
Like eagles

So today I decided to just open the bible and pick a verse from whatever page it fell open to.  It fell open to Isaiah, and in the last column these words just jumped out to me.......

'Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles;    they will run and not grow weary,    they will walk and not be faint.'

Isaiah 40:30-31

A coincidence....... I think not!  And so here is my layout using Isaiah 40:30-31a

This layout is for the Show Us your Stuff February Part 2 challenge.  The challenge was a recipe challenge-

Use at least 3 pieces of patterned paper

(I used October Afternoon "Sidewalks")

Use 3 embellishments

(Handmade flower- by the gorgeous Carol from "Tattered Inspirations", Handmade banner-  made by me!, Ribbon Bows,-  also made by me!)

Use at least 1 heart
(Heart brads on my banner)
Use some paint somewhere on your layout!
(This one was the hardest!  Paint and me don't go well together, but I bubble wrap painted the background with pale pink Kasiercraft paint)

Show us your stuff- Feb sketch

Here's my entry for the Show us your stuff February sketch.

I stuck pretty closely to Sara's sketch (which was her last one for SUYS sniff sniff), just adding an extra couple of photos.

My main handmade embellishment on this layout is the accordion folded sun!

Show us your stuff- January Group 2 Challenge

The second challenge at Show us Your Stuff for this month is a quote challenge- to use the following quote from Oprah on your layout "Cheers to another year - and another chance to get it right".

I had another go at the "try this" challenge for January, this time making my banner "squishy".  And I made some more accordion folded embellishments!  The striped Echo Park "playground" paper made great flowers!

Show us your stuff- January sketch

I have been wanting to play along at Show us your stuff for ages but never seemed to find the time.... until now! !  I made it my New Years Scrapping resolution to make the time to complete every challenge at SUYS, and after being lucky enough to meet Marelle in person over the holidays I really want to support her site- she is so passionate about it!

So here is my first entry "They share and care".
This is the sketch it was based on and I used Bella Blvd papers.

My handmade embellishment is the squishy heart, which was also the "try this" challenge for January.  I think I'll be using that technique again!  So much fun!
