Scrapbooking Scripture Sunday & Show us your stuff challenge

Last week I boldly announced that every Sunday I would upload a layout that has a verse of scripture on it, and for the rest of the week I've been trying to work out what verse to use.  Problem is- I am completely spoiled for choice!  Meanwhile Tom has been hard at work  practising his trumpet pieces for the Sunbury Youth and Young Adults service tonight, and as they are playing one of our favourite songs "Everlasting God", I have had that going on constant repeat in my head!  (If you are not familiar with the lyrics for Everlasting God, here they are)

Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord

We will wait upon the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord

Our God, You reign forever
Our hope, our Strong Deliverer
You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won't grow weary
You're the defender of the weak
You comfort those in need
You lift us up on the wings
Like eagles

So today I decided to just open the bible and pick a verse from whatever page it fell open to.  It fell open to Isaiah, and in the last column these words just jumped out to me.......

'Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles;    they will run and not grow weary,    they will walk and not be faint.'

Isaiah 40:30-31

A coincidence....... I think not!  And so here is my layout using Isaiah 40:30-31a

This layout is for the Show Us your Stuff February Part 2 challenge.  The challenge was a recipe challenge-

Use at least 3 pieces of patterned paper

(I used October Afternoon "Sidewalks")

Use 3 embellishments

(Handmade flower- by the gorgeous Carol from "Tattered Inspirations", Handmade banner-  made by me!, Ribbon Bows,-  also made by me!)

Use at least 1 heart
(Heart brads on my banner)
Use some paint somewhere on your layout!
(This one was the hardest!  Paint and me don't go well together, but I bubble wrap painted the background with pale pink Kasiercraft paint)

This months unique sketch at Crafty Sketches was created by Jules.
I stuck quite closely to the sketch this month!  Unusual for me! LOL!

The pennants on the sketch gave me the perfect opportunity to use the Fancy Pants "Beach Babe" chipboard banners that I have had in my stash for a while now and never got around to using!!

Upload your interpretation of the sketch to the Crafty Sketches Blog by March 31st for your chance to win a great prize from our sponsors!

"Scrapbooking Scripture Sundays"

"And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him" Colossians 3:17

Today I made a decision!  From now on, every Sunday I will post a layout that has a verse of Scripture on it!  I'm not an evangelist by any means, but I believe that God has given me a talent and a joyful way to express that, and I have a responsibility to share that with others!

So here is my first "Scrapbooking Scripture Sunday" layout!  I completed this one for the Scraphappykat Friday night challenge #8.

The challenge was to use stamps and doodling.  Stamping is not something you see on my layouts too often so it was a real challenge!

I used a Kaisercraft background music stamp to create the patterned cardstock background, and the birds and leaves are Basic Grey stamps,  stamped onto the My Minds Eye papers.

The bible verse I have chosen for this one was very much inspired by Tom.  At a Youth and Young Adults camp recently he gave a testimony of his faith, and how he worships God through music.  The verse from Psalm 150:3a has become a memory verse for him.......

"Praise him with trumpet sounds"

Here's my entry for the Show us your stuff February sketch.

A couple of Cards

A few special ladies I know are having birthdays this week, so I have been creating a few cards!

These ones use some American Craft papers.  Must give credit where credit is due and acknowledge that Mum helped me with the fussy cutting!  We passed the time one evening at the beach cutting out the flowers!

Friday Night Challenge at Scraphappykat

This is my first time playing along with the Friday Night Challenge at Scraphappykat, and I had lots of fun with it!

The challenge was to take inspiration from this cute picture!

I replicated the picket fence with my background paper strips, and followed the same col;our order for the strips as the colours of the gumboots.  I also used the orange flowers to represent the flowers growing in the gumboots!

The whole layout is created using Echo Park papers.

Upcoming classes at Scraphaven

I have some sneak peaks to share with you for my new classes, using Kaisercraft's new "Tiny Woods" collection.  The classes will be held at Scraphaven in Sunbury

The first class "Life's a Hoot"  will be held on Friday 24th February, at both 10.30am and 7.00pm.

This one uses a 4x6 portrait orientation photo,
and features some very cute 3 dimensional owls!

The second layout "Deer little things" will be held on Friday 2nd March at 7.00pm for the night time ladies, or Friday 9th March at 10.30am for the morning ladies.

This layout uses a 5x7" portrait photo and has lots of trees and some cute little deers, (but you could use the rabbits or hedgehogs from the Kaisercraft paper instead).

Again, you can make the title suit your photos.

To book your space in the class please call Di Moon on 0404 266 296 or Email : dismale@bigpond.com.au .  There may also be an opportunity for you to purchase the kit and instructions and complete the layouts at home if you cant get to Scraphaven.

"We are Simply Blessed" Tutorial for Scrapbook Boutique

Greetings everyone!  Today I have a new tutorial over at the Scrapbook Boutique blog for you, using the beautiful Little Yellow Bicycle "Hello Fall" Collection of papers and accessories!

This collection comes with some great double sided paper, and a flower pack that has pre-scalloped paper ready for accordion folding.  I found the the scallops were the exact right size to run through my cuttlebug machine using the "My Favourite things" 1/4" rosette die.  It made the accordion flowers so much quicker to fold!

You can find the full instructions here on the Scrapbook Boutique blog!

All the products I used are listed below and can be found in the Scrapbook Boutique on-line store.

Cards- using Bella Blvd papers

In keeping with my New Years Scrapping goals, I have sat down and made some more cards.

I used Bella Bvld papers and stickers for these ones-  love the bright colours!

I needed a masculine type "thinking of you" card, and the grey with blue and red worked well.
